Good tent for the money

Purchased at Cabela’s for $120. So much better than any cheapo tent you get at wal-mart. Can withstand wind and rain, will not blow over and will keep you dry. Have used approx 30 nights in last 6 months, did break one of the fibreglass poles but was able to fix, will probably replace with aluminum alloy poles because of excessive use. Just big enough for queen size inflatable mattress, not much extra room. Great tent for 2 people to camp comfortably. At first thought 2 doors was excessive but can’t imagine with only one door after I got used to it. Vestibules very handy to keep things dry. Could use some extra ventilation in rainfly.

wanted to love it

My first impression of this tent straight out of the box was that it was a little heavy at around 11 lbs but then i figured that i wouldn’t be hauling a four person tent by myself and the weight could be split between two or more people so I wasn’t that concerned. After setting the tent up without the rain fly in my living room, I was extremely impressed. There was plenty of room for me, the wife and my son for a comfortable nights sleep. The double doors were a plus and the zippers were extremely smooth and quiet. The entire tent is made up of mesh with a bathtub floor which provides for good ventilation. The seams are all taped which is a plus for a tent at this price point, however the floor of the tent has a seem on the bottom in the middle of the tent floor which is a big negative even though it is also taped. I set up the tent with the rain fly in my back yard on a windy day (20-30mph). The vestibules where fairly roomy but after being set up for about 20 minutes, one of the poles gave way and one side of the tent collapsed. I set it back up and about 10 minutes later it was collapsed again. This time one of the fiberglass poles was snapped in half and ripped a hole through the rain fly. The fiberglass poles are very unstable and heavy. Also the non vestibule sides of the rain fly touched the side of the mesh on the inner wall of the tent. Even if the rain fly is guyed out it does not fix this problem. I really think this would be a great tent if the poles were aluminum. I returned this tent and will probably opt for a Kelty brand.

Good tent

First night I used this was in a long rainstorm. It did a good job of keeping the water out.
Although the rainfly did let a very small amount of rain in through the zipper.

It looks good, it’s pretty quick to set up, it’s light for its function and size, and there are doors on both sides. There are four big pockets on the inside also. There are also four loop hangers, one in each corner. Also, the zippers pull very easily, most of the time you can use one hand.

There are two poles that run horizontally across the top of the tent. They are supposed to give more room at the top, by flattening out that area. But the difference wasn’t very big. Also it is somewhat difficult to line up the rainfly patches onto the poles. These patches are supposed to go line up over the poles so there is less chance of tearing the fly.

There are four attachable cords, one for each corner. At first I thought they were for pulling the rainfly off the tent to keep the water off, but it turns out there is a velcro loop on the inside of the rainfly that attaches to the fiberglass poles at each corner. So they don’t pull the rainfly off of the tent, but they help hugely with stability in the wind. I had a late night setup one night in a too-small area. The wind kicked up in the morning and almost flattened the tent. I was able to attach the small cords at each corner the next night (in a new location, but still very windy) and it made a world of difference.

Maybe someone can explain this part; there are 3 stake holes at each entrance, 2 by the zipper (one on each side). I can’t really see the point of putting a stake in the hole left of the zipper. It just keeps the fly in the way so you have to step over it to get in/out.

Another FYI, the bottom is thin. The material is pretty high quality, but just be aware that you’ll definitely want a footprint or tarp (smaller than the tent’s dimensions), if you will use the tent in areas where a puncture is possible.

I found this tent on sale at my local sports store for $75, so Amazon’s $115 seems a bit high.

Overall it’s a very good tent, and if treated well the durability should be pretty good.

Good tent, not great

When I ordered this tent, I was a little worried about it’s size – 10′X15′ seemed so big that I was afraid it wouldn’t really feel like camping. But for better or worse, the tent isn’t that big – it’s not a square, and I think they measure the widest and deepest parts, which isn’t representative of the overall size. In terms of usable space, it’s probably about 8.5′X13′, big enough for 2 queen mattresses with about a foot between and along either wall and 2 feet from the front wall to the mattresses (if you push the mattresses all the way against the back wall).

This tent is easy to set up and take down – one person can definitely do it. That said, the instructions are bad, and the pictures on the instructions are useless, so I’d keep the box the tent comes in, you’ll be glad to have the pictures to help figure the tent out. Unless you’re used to this kind of tent, I suggest setting it up at least once before your camping trip since there is a little trial and error involved.

The biggest problem with this tent is ventilation – the tent itself, starting about 2 feet up the walls, is entirely mesh, so if you want any privacy at all, you have to put on the rain cover, but it has no windows, so the only ventilation is the door (only half of it is mesh) and a very small hole in the side that is used to slide coolers in and out. There’s no way to get much breeze, and no crossflow. If you camp in hot areas, I wouldn’t get this tent.

Also, the tent isn’t really 2 rooms – it comes with a very thin nylon divider (about the thickness of a bed sheet) that hangs down the middle of the tent from front to back (right in the middle of the door). It hangs with cords through loops, so there’s about a 6 inch gap all around the divider – it prevents most visibility between the 2 “rooms”, but that’s it. Also, the people in the left “room” have to go into the right “rooom” to use the door of the tent.

The stakes that it comes with a CHEAP. Plan to take some good ones with you if you’re going anywhere at all rocky.

The overhead storage is nice and convenient, but I don’t think it’d hold a lot of weight.

Overall a good tent for a family.

Good Purchase

The tent was very easy to setup and put away. We experienced a full day of rain and had a minor leak, but that was due to user error – we hadn’t wrapped all of the velcro around the poles, causing the rain cover to come into contact with the tent.
We have a family of 5 – two average sized adults – man 180, woman 130, – three children, age 7,3, and 2.

With two queen mattresses, we pretty much used all of the space. I was a little disappointed in the fact that the rear of the tent rose sharply from the floor to the roof, causing us to have to move the mattresses closer to the entrance way, otherwise the people on the two ends would have come into contact with the tent (raincover not over that area too, so could forsee problems).

Ventilation was fine. Without the user error, the tent stayed dry.

Really only a 4 person tent.

Coleman Tent is the best!

The tent is spacious and durable with extra reinforcements in the frame and seams. Rain & wind was not a problem when we were camping. We like the many little amenities like the net above the bed which is great to store an extra blanket for when you get cold in the night and the many little net pockets for storage of those small items you don’t want to lose. The main door is extra large which is great to fit our queen size air mattress through.

Very nice tent

Bought this tent for occasional car camping.
Really happy with it, the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that I think it is a bit if a reach to call it a 6 person tent. Yes, you probably could put 6 people – alternating head to toe and sideways (as shown in the enclosed instruction book) but I would say 3 and a bit of gear would be comfortable. Also, Kelty does not do themselves any favors with the packaging – the box this tent comes in has a picture of a much smaller tent (their 2 or maybe 4 person) and I was really nervous about what I had purchased until I assembled it for the first time.

Apart from that, very happy with the tent. Putting it up is an absolute snap. My 9 year old son and I had it up in less than ten minutes. I can even put it up by myself if need be. The two poles are made of beefy aluminum with pre-set curvature. The tent and rain-fly design is a bit different from most other tents but worked out great. The rain fly basically covers the entire tent and creates a front, enclosed vestibule. Essentially, you end up with a tent inside a tent. During our trip it rained virtually non-stop for 36 hours – and I mean rained hard! With high winds as well. The tent was the only refuge from the storm and stayed dry the whole time (we did not do any sort of seam sealing either). We didn’t get a chance to experience a night without the rain fly but imagine it would be pretty comfortable on even a very warm night as there is alot of screen area for air flow and ventilation. The stakes that come with this tent are a relatively sturdy looking steel (better than most that you see). Would definitely recommend this to a friend.

Only One Gripe

Nice tent, good quality, easy to set up and actually fits back into its stuff sack. My only gripe is the tent should have stake grommets or loops mid point at the bottom of both sides and perhaps the back (where the side and rear panels are seamed with the floor). With stakes only at each of the four corners, the side and rear panels sag a bit, and the floor is not tight. The easiest way to explain it is: Imagine yourself IN the tent – you can reach down at the seam between the floor and side or rear panels and literally pull the fabric in about a foot. This makes for a non-tight floor. Fortunately, I knew about Sierra tent guyout clips, and with those the tent is close to perfect. We bought this tent for our family of 5 and it has been great. It has a large vestibule and is very quick and easy to set up. The tent is lightweight and the aluminum poles are light and strong.

Excellent for staying organized

I bought two of these Kelty Camp haulers last summer for our camping trip. It comes with the large outer bag and three inner bags which fit inside.

The outer bag has a front pocket which zips and webbing along each side to which caribiners and things can be attached. It zips closed and has a shoulder strap for carrying. It also has an internal structure that keeps it open, you can see it in the picture in the arch that runs along the side. I folds flat if necessary.

The internal bags do not have any structure to them, but when full they stand up pretty well. They have a vinyl slot where you can put a label for what is inside the bag. I found that it helped tremendously to keep things organized and I could stuff some extra larger stuff in the space between the inner bags as well.

When we put our camping gear away for the year, we just packed it all back into the camp haulers and put it away, so it will all be ready and organized for us next year!

I love these Kelty Camp Haulers (I own a few of them). The colors are wonderful, the material lightweight but very strong. These travel well and pack up nice and small when not in use. The various pockets and straps make them versatile.

Wonderful Car Organizer

I don’t camp much, so I bought the Camp Hauler for a Car Organizer. The Camp Hauler 3 fits like a glove in the front trunk of my Boxster and is a great daily cargo organizer as well as a travel system. The three “bento” bags fit perfectly inside, but can also stack on their own above a full shell for more storage.

Nice versitile backpack – use it for both laptop / school & hiking

My husband bought this backpack for me as I needed a new laptop bag. I am in grad school and need something to schlepp my laptop around as well as some books, etc without ending up with a sore back. This bag has worked out great. It has a pouch in the back that you laptop slides into, or if you are using it for hiking, you can put a water pouch in here – it has the opening to allow the tube to come through. It has pouches for water bottles on either side, a small front pocket, and a middle pocket with an inner divider and little sleeves to tuck credit cards, etc into. One of them is a zip mesh pocket. So there is plenty of little spots to tuck things. The bag holds quite a bit, I can easily fit my laptop, a few notebooks and a few large textbooks in here.

We also use the backpack as a daypack for hiking. It has comfortable straps that go over the shoulders, a chest strap and a waist strap. I’ve had this backpack for I think 2 years now and use it every single day and it still looks nearly new (a few spots are a big scuffed, but seriously has held up amazingly well). Got to love the north face – they make quality stuff.

However there is plenty of space for your day to day stuff…
The material is wonderful and it has tons of pockets and small zippers and places to put everything…

Nice Tent With Nice Features 4 the Money

I like the look and color combo of this tent, it is symmetrical, and all the seams of the fly, and the floor of the tent were seam tapped but I took the suggestions of more experienced campers and seam sealed the fly and floor. The tent is well constructed….the floor has a 5000mm coating, fly has a 2000mm coating which will help with the durability and rain proofing, aluminum poles seem high quality when in hand….the tent can be easily put together in under 5min by yourself which comes in handy when its about to pour. Materials seem high grade, well put together, & design makes sense. The dual vestibules are spacious and provide plenty of space for extra gear and vent from the bottom + you can tie a side back to ventilate as well, doors are dual zippered and can be closed or become a screen door for better ventilation….a lot of the other tents I looked at didn’t have this option and were either all screen or no screen or just door…this design is great for summer or cold weather use and you can adjust according to your liking, options are good.

Took this tent out for the first time a few weeks ago, in short I got to the campsite and the sky turned dark. I didn’t realize that the campsite didn’t drain very well and setup the tent in what became a pond/mud hole…bath tub floor worked and no leaks anywhere inside. So during my trip it rained most of the time and all my gear stayed dry and there were no leaks or drips. When staked out with just the metal stakes the tent seems strong, with the addition of the included guy lines attached will no doubt hold up to some bad weather/wind/ rain/snow….don’t know about blizzard conditions/ect…so in those conditions I may consider the !Tundraline, !K-2, MSR, or NF-VE 25/35.

I would suggest getting some better stakes as the ones included bend easily (I bent one pretty bad hammering it in a hurry due to rain), a tarp to protect the floor, and to seam seal the floor seams and fly. This tent would be tight for 3 people, I had a themarest large in there with all my gear and it was comfortable, for 2 people side by side with gear it would be good fit but 3 people with gear it would be real close-eureka timberline 4xt has many of the similar features and maybe a better fit for 3 people. As far a weight its about 8-8.5 lbs. split between 2 hikers it would be do-able depending on weight preferences.

Overall this is a good well constructed outdoor shelter for the price and I hope to get alot of years of camping fun from this tent. I look forward to taking this tent to the mountains and beach. When I clock some more adventures with this tent I will try to review again to see if it holds up well long-term.

An Exceptional Tent

This tent is well designed. It has many features not mentioned in the desgription. It is well decribed as a 3+ season tent as the combination of adjustable vents and numerous tie downs make it suitable for a wide range of conditions. The large dual vestibles give weather protection for gear and they’re roomy enough for putting on one’s footwear. The D-shaped doors are effective for entry and exit. The dual-track zippering means you never have to struggle opening two zippers to get in and out. The door zips to the mesh screen which in turn zips to the tent, making for one zip access.

So far we are very satisfied with this tent; much more than we expected.

Nice Tent

This is the 4th Eureka tent I have purchased in 20 years (I have tents of different sizes – 2 person to 10 person) and they have all been great. This size tent is just right for 2 people, though the 2 vestibles add a little weight and bulk if you are backpacking. I like the layout and the fact that you can roll up the 2 vestibles completely in fair weather. A few days after I received the tent, I used it for a one week trip by myself including one 24 hour period of heavy rain. A few drips came through the fly and screen on the top of the tent, but really only a few over 24 hours – I didn’t seam seal the fly, but I suspect that will fix the issue. The only con to this tent is the dark color which I am thinking will make the tent hotter than I would like during the summer in direct sunlight.

perfect for couples camping

this chair was perfect for my girlfriend and i camping. We put it right by the fire, snuggle up under a blanket, and relax. It’s large, so it wouldnt be something you normally carry around with you, but i would certainly recommend it. Great for cuddling up with your favorite girl by the campfire. coolest feature – the insulted drink holder on each side, with a beer opener on each.

Good quality, okay comfort

The chair is really well constructed. The, the bag with pocket, bottle openers, and insulated cup holders are great. My only complaint is the comfort is only ok. The fabric is a bit too tight where your thighs are where you sit. It cuts into them a bit. I think it will be ok for an occasional use chair but don’t think I’d want to sit in it for a long period of time.

First: This product was shipped just a few hours after I placed the order!
Second: It’s great quality, love the bottle openers attached to each arm of the chair! The cup holders are an incredible adjustable design I haven’t seen before that will accommodate either a large cup, 2 small ones, or one small one with some spare room (for snacks?), all held securely. I can’t wait to use it next weekend on a 4 day camping trip! I only gave it 4 stars because a light grey is a bad color for something that goes camping!

Not a bad propane stove for the price

I bought this stove primarily to use for emergencies or when I experience a power outage but I like that I can also use it for camping (note, it is not a backpacking stove, it’s too bulky and propane is too heavy for that). I was a bit surprised that the base is a lot larger than it looks in the online picture. This stove can accommodate 12″ and even 14″ pots and pans. While this may seem like a positive, for me, I wish it was slightly smaller. At least it can be stored in a cupboard vertically.

I also wish the stove came with a carrying pouch or case, but it does not.

The stove performs and functions perfectly well and seems sturdy and well built so all in all for the price, I’m happy with it despite the few negatives I’ve mentioned. Small propane tanks are cheap and readily available for about $1.50-$2.00 which is a real plus.

The Best Camping Burning For Hiking

This light, portable Burner sits low and has a full size cooking area, so you can place a metal cup or a 12-inch pot on it. The simple wind block system guarantees that you meal is evenly cooked and you never have an unseen `blowout’ of your fuel. The output of gas is easily adjustable with a ribbed knob. Everything is heavy duty embossed steel for really strong and long lasting use, plus the grate is coated with Nickel Chrome which make sit really easy to clean. I purchased this over my “Texsport Single Burner Propane Stove” kit, as that had small rubber base clips which were always falling off in the dirt. Coleman makes the best camping gear and equipment by far.

Needs a little work

Purchased this in place of a larger bulky stove. The unit has sufficent heat and stores nicely.

The two issues I dont like are:
No real control over the burner, setting it to low can be tricky. Coleman needs to redesign the valve
Second is the top grating, better have larger pans or coffe pots. The grating is fair.

I have used thi unit for 4 years now its nice for the size.
